Sewer Line Need to Be Repaired?

10/6/2021

Even though your sewer line is one of the most important aspects of your home to keep it comfortable and clean, it’s not something that most homeowners think about often. They can last a long time without any issues, so they are easy to take for granted. However, there are some telltale signs that your sewer line needs to be repaired or replaced before it causes a serious problem. Ignoring these signs could lead to an expensive, messy situation that no one wants to deal with.

Foul odors

If you can smell the sewage that’s in your sewer line, that’s a cause for concern. A working sewer line is completely sealed aside from the vents that take the odor away from your home. Smells leaking out could mean that the sewage itself is leaking, too.

Wet areas on your lawn

If your lawn has spots that are swelling up or are unusually soggy, then that means that there is extra water under your lawn. Unless it’s been raining a lot, this water is likely coming from your sewer line.

Sewage blockages or backups

When you’ve got a draining problem or a clog in your sewer, you’ll be able to notice it in your fixtures. If your toilet backs up regularly, or our sink won’t drain despite its pipe is clear, then the problem probably has to do with your sewer line.

Patches of grass growing unusually fast

If you’ve seen areas of your lawn looking extra green or growing faster than the grass around them, then this could also be a sign of a sewer line leak. These areas could be growing faster due to extra nutrients that are coming from the leaked sewage.

Visible pools of septic waste

Yes, believe it or not, if there is a pool of septic waste in your yard then you may have a problem with your sewer line.

Drains have slowed down

Even if your drains aren’t fully backing up, a drain that is working slower than usual is a sign of a sewer line problem. It’s more than likely a blockage that’s forming but hasn’t fully clogged the sewer line. You should address this problem before it gets worse.
